Amul Going Green

The Amul Dairy Co-operative, which had been around since 1946, It was integrated into this system, helping transform India into one of the world’s largest milk producing countries. Dr.Verghese Kurien, who founded Amul, has been profiled on Ashoka's changemakers. Here is some information about their organization.

Amul Dairy has transformed the process for millions of small farmers by us. Today, Auml working with a different major area. Cleanliness of dairy co-operative society, Vision mission strategy workshop, and self leadership develops. This factor focus on future goal is clear which type of work doing thus development of employee skills and expanding of Amul brand. And another side they were conduct different programme. They are conducted first programme ‘Red Tag Day’ at VDCS. In this programme total society involves and cleans all society. After that they want to change management theme by vision, mission and strategy. Another side they are focus on idea generation and evolution of mass tree plant.

In mass tree plant they are present advance 5 to 7 years plan. In first year 2007 they are started plan on ‘one man one tree’, 2008 they were scaling their plan ‘one man three tree’ and 2009 ‘one man five tree’. This year, farmers can choose the saplings they wish to plant. The farmers were encouraged to select the place and prepare the land for the planting in advance. The drive to carry out mass tree planting was undertaken for a month, culminating on Independence Day, a press release states.

During this period, each milk producer member was encouraged to plant three to five trees. Milk producers have massively planted trees across 14,000 villages in Gujarat. The target is one corer trees. Moreover, despite scanty rains, the milk producers have been able to plant more than 7.2 million saplings.
